Photo Studies Fresh Fruit With Smile, Oil & Acrylic On Canvas
One of the best things about Thailand is the food. And as the natives say, it's "tuk lea dee." Cheap and good. And if the humidity has made you lazy or your dogs are barkin' from all your walking, you can sit in an open-air cafe sipping a cold Singha beer and it will eventually come to you!
I saw this Thai woman with her fruit cart in Patong Beach, Phuket. Her and her cart were just a moving burst of color. As an artist, this is the kind of sight that makes my heart race. When I raised my camera to snap a few pictures, I was rewarded with another beautiful sight. The world famous 'Thai Smile.' What also struck me was that this small woman couldn't have weighed 50 kilos and the cart, packed with fruit and crushed ice, must have been 200 kilos! See for yourself in the picture below.

When I decided to make the Fresh Fruit With Smile, oil painting I realized that nearly all the colors in my main subject were warm, i.e. yellows, oranges and reds. When I came upon the idea to make the street a cool blue is when it really worked as a painting. I guess that's what is called artistic license!
